I don’t know what my title is on about, the desk is pretty damn sturdy, but I thought I’d just post this shot because I’ve put a load of stickers from clothing companies onto the desk… and the printer, and the bin… and the back of my laptop barely has any of the original plastic visible anymore (the lappy isn’t in the picture, that was just a tease).

Guess what I spent part of my weekend doing?
I realise that I’ve gone gone somewhat overboard with my outfit for Rob’s party next week, but I’m having so much f,un putting the outfit together that I really don’t care how silly I’m going to look.
The ice hockey helmet (’won’ for 99p off eBay) arrived on Saturday wrapped in about 5 plastic carrier bags for protection (though why a helmet needs protection I don’t know). A few hours later I’d taken it all apart and removed the stuff I didn’t need (face mask, ear protection, chin strap) and then gave it a quick sanding to remove the dents added by the previous owner. Then we sprayed it with some white primer in the spraybooth, but the finish looked a bit rough, so we let it dry, sanded the roughest parts and resprayed it so that the finish was a lot smoother.
That was yesterday. Today I decided that instead of doing the tough part (painting the blue design onto the top) I’d do the comparatively easy job of fitting the lights. It ended up taking hours (and a lot of masking tape), but I think the result looks pretty cool. I guess that EL wire would look more realistic (even if there wasn’t EL wire on the costumes in the film), but I think that I might actually prefer the glow of the LEDs.

We found a little pot in the walls at the barn (which has now pretty much disappeared, except for one wall), and the top of it has Nelson stamped, which was pretty cool. The bottom of the pot has a little biography (birth and death, that kind of thing) of Nelson. So far its the only treasure that we’ve managed to uncover (except for an old show in the charcoal underneath the floor), but its not bad as far as barn treasure goes.
