Did I mention I got turned down for another intership? Did I even mention that I went to London for the interview a few weeks ago?

I guess if you follow the twitter posts you’d have been able to work it out pretty easily, but I thought that such disappointment necessitated its own post.

Apparently, I am the man to fix this barn. Well, not me really, me, Matt and Neil, with Matt doing the actual skilled work and me and Neil just lifting and carrying and doing the non-skilled stuff.

It’s pretty dangerous work, the gable end (wall on the right of the pic) is more than 2 feet out of alignment and the two side walls are basically being held up by the weight of the roof on top of them. We’ve put scaffolding inside and made the area as safe as we can, but there does seem to be an undercurrent of nervousness when we’re in there and lots of silent moments when we’re listening out for imminent collapse.

It feels good working in the old family barn though. When we’re done with the reconstruction it will hopefully last for another couple of hundred years… or I’ll get to watch a building collapse, which also sounds kinda fun… as long as I’m not in it.
