Boy has it been windy today, been kinda funny watched the birds swinging around on the bird-feeder though!
Our power seems to have been fine overnight and all through the day, hopefully it won’t go off since I seem to be in ‘the zone’ for blogging at the moment, I might even attempt to push through on the HYA directory too.
But… its 2008?

I went to Glenridding today to take some ‘before’ photos of a job we’re doing (technically they were ‘middle’, but that’s not the point) but before I got to the house I noticed that the fuel gauge was reading a little low and so stopped in at a small non-chain petrol station.
The pumps had ‘Attended Service’ written on them, but I figured it was just an old sign. I was wrong, I got out of my car, and as I was undoing the fuel cap a woman came out and asked me how much fuel I wanted. That’s never happened to me in England. It was kinda weird, because I just had to stand there waiting for her to finish, then I gave her the cash, so whilst it was refreshing to see that kind of personal service, I didn’t really see the point.

Stumbling over the traffic

HYA had its biggest traffic day ever yesterday, and its all because of an article I wrote about tees by webcomic artists that I posted back in September. When I wrote I thought it would be popular, and then absolutely no one linked to it so I just figured it helped me learn about how not to write that kind of of article, and then two days ago I noticed it was starting to get a bit of traffic from stumbleupon, which was cool. Then that whole thing snowballed and resulted in 10x normal traffic yesterday, which was awesome, although its pretty much all junk traffic for my advertisers so I’m going to have to knock a bit off their bills at the end of the month, still, its all good exposure and will hopefully lead to having a few more full-time readers.

At the pub quiz last night (scored 35/50, not too bad I guess) I said to Emma “you miss all the shots you don’t take.”
In that vein I e-mailed the organisers of the Margin (www.margin.tv) trade show to see if little HYA could attend…. I can! It’s during London fashion week so I’m going to see if there’s anything else going on that I can get into.
Oh, and if you were wondering about the picture, its of a Yellow Margin Moray.
