I don’t know about you guys, but I have absolutely no interest in hearing about Princess Diana today, her sons wanted to have a memorial service, that’s fine, but does it really need to be simultaneously be broadcast on several channels at once?

This morning when I got up I got some breakfast and put Sky News on as usual, and they were talking about Diana, so I tried a different channel, here’s how it went.

Sky News = Diana
BBC News 24 = Diana
Fox News = Not Diana… then Diana
France24 = Debate: “Diana: Is it time to move on?”
Russia Today= Ukrainian elections… Diana (on Russia Today!!!)
NDTV 24×7 (Indian News Channel)= Something about cars, which was fine except it wasn’t news

Sky Sports News= Sweet relief, especially when Peter Crouch e-mailed them to say he was sat at home watching SSN and therefore couldn’t have been spotted at various places around the country (transfer deadline day is always fun).

2 - 0, not a bad result (even if both the goals were scored at the wrong end from our viewing position), but the ground certainly was lacking in atmosphere, maybe because the ground wasn’t very full. We did get free drinks though, which was cool.

Oh, and Chinese buffet for dinner before the match, huzzah!

Since I’m such a nice guy I thought it would be better for me to drive my Grandparents back to Newcastle rather than make them find their own way back on the train, and whilst I’m there me and Neil are going to watch the glamour tie that is Newcastle vs Barnsley at SJP with my uncle and cousin.

I’ve had a LinkedIn (Facebook but for you career) account for ages and done nothing with it, so today after Shimone (that’s right home-friends, I’m namechecking someone you don’t know) invited me to ‘connect’ I thought I’d update my profile and see who in my address book was a member. All in all, it was about 35 people, but I don’t really understand LinkedIn culture yet, so I only asked the people who I’ve got a decent working relationship with to ‘connect’ with me.

It’s really cool when people I don’t physically know but respect add me on social sites, because it suggests that they like me for more than my ability to shift a few of their tees.

Oh, and is it weird that I’ve described myself as an ‘independent fashion analyst’ in my profile?

Despite the poster having been on the wall for about 5 years, I’ve just noticed that there’s a spelling mistake on my Bullitt movie poster. Jacqueline Bisset (the films leading lady) has been spelled ‘Jaqueline Bisset.’

And by the way, how awesome is this title?

Turns out (as I suspected) I don’t have a big enough collection of hoodies to warrant being featured on TV. Whilst I do know more about hoodies than most people on the planet, I don’t actually own all that many of them myself, ‘just’ 6, so it wouldn’t exactly have been a very long segment on the show!

Oh well, the producer has my e-mail now, and knows that I have about 80 tees, so maybe they’ll do something on tees soon and I can get involved with that.

This kind of thing is perfect for feed readers, there’s no way I’d visit the blog every day, but having it turn up once a day in Google Reader seems like a real treat.

I don’t know why I find Soviet-era illustration fascinating, but I do, and I guess other people do as well.
