Muse at Wembley support acts

Shy Childs were up first, they were alright, if I were in a club I would be dancing to them, but they didn’t seem to have much variation in their tracks.

Zane Lowe DJ’d between the bands and I really enjoyed his sets. It really broke up the monotony of listening to songs between bands that usually happens at a gig, and he got the crowd going too.

I hadn’t really heard much of Biffy Clyro, but they were actually really good, and they name-checked Freddie Mercury (Aaaaaaaaa-O) which was really cool because I always associated the old Wembley with Queens performance there.

Terrible. Dire. Both words I used to describe My Chemical Romance’s performance, except they did have certain four letter words directly preceding them… I have no idea how they are one of the biggest bands in the world if this is how they perform live, they just have such egos and illusions of grandeur… and they were the only band to swear at the crowd the whole night, and you know how I hate that.
Inside Wembley

Wembely is massive, utterly, utterly massive. And excellently organised, there were hardly any queues for food, normal drinks or beer, although cash machines did seem to be in short supply. Being on the pitch did feel pretty special, yes, we were stood on top of plastic boards, but I will still claim that I’ve walked on the pitch at Wembley.
Since it seemed to generate so much interest during the FA Cup Final build up… water was £1.80 and tasted soooo good, beer was £3.50, and fish & chips was £8 but did look quite nice.

Lee and Stacey drinking in the atmosphere as we sit in the ‘golden circle’. The first few thousand people who had pitch standing tickets got right into the front section. there was quite a lot of space in there so we could actually move around without fear of ending up at the back of the pitch if we vacated our spot to get a drink.
South Bank & St Pauls

After the eye we took a walk down the South Bank (after a quick stop off at Chicken Cottage for some greasy lunch). There was a festival going on and there was some terrible girl rap duo singing a song that went “I ain’t got no dollar, dollar, bling, bling!” The song sucked, but for the rest of the weekend we were all singing it! We stopped at a pub called Doggett’s next to the river, but unfortunately we had to sit in the back beer garden so we didn’t get the view. Then it was down to Tate Modern for a quick look around, a very quick look around.

Naturally, after going to Tate Modern we walked across the Millenium Bridge and took a look at St Pauls. Then we got the tube back to Hammersmith be get ready for our night out.
Bone on the Eye

Here I am (looking hot) on the London Eye.
We were actually pretty lucky to get on the eye when we did. When we were right at the top the pod stopped. The air conditioning went off. Stacey became scared. Rob and Lee made jokes about terrorism. I was surprised that no one else in the pod was worried about us making jokes about terrorism, and our theorising about what we’d do if the giant ferris wheel were to fall over.
Even though I’ve been on the Eye before it was still really amazing to go up again. The pod stopping was a blessing in disguise really, we got an extra 15 minutes up there for free, and due to the ‘power cut’ they hadn’t let any people on a few pods after our in the rotation.

One of the problems with going away from the internet for a few days like I did this weekend is that I end up with a big backlog of e-mails and items on my feed reader.
Its taken me almost all day to work my way through it… I’ve looked at just about 1000 feed items, and I still haven’t clearing my inbox, oh the joys of having a moderately popular website.
It always rains in Manchester
Posted by Bone at June 13th, 2007

We (T-dog, Robotron and myself) had a trip out to Manchester today, and we all had a really good time until the heavens opened up and it absolutely tipped down.
I managed to make a few cool purchases. A pair of shorts from USC (a couple of my old pairs are too big for me now, hurrah!), the 200% Cotton book (basically a book about tees), and I was really happy and excited to find a copy of T Journal, a niche magazine dedicated to t-shirt culture. £6 is quite a lot to pay for a magazine of its rather diminutive size, but considering how much it would have cost for me to have it sent to me from Australia I actually got a pretty good deal.
We had lunch in Pizza Hut, buffet, naturally. I only managed to eat 8 slices and some salad, nowhere near Matt’s legendary 14 slices during the 2005/6 year at uni.
A few more pics coming up later, or not, depends if I can be bothered really.
Mo Money, one less problem

Yayers! I finally got my Paypal sorted out and now I can send money from my Paypal account straight to my bank account, so now I don’t have to store up all the money I earn and spend it on random eBay buys, I can actually use it to pay for my regular spends!
Of course, I don’t really earn enough from my various web ventures for it to cover that much of what I spend in a month, but its still a step in the right direction.
E-mail 101
Posted by Bone at June 12th, 2007
I got an e-mail this morning from a PR girl at a tee company that shan’t be named (because I’m not that mean and they’re actually quite a nice company) that probably gave away rather more than she’d hoped.
Along with the little update I was meant to receive, I also got a conversation between her and another blogger (who I hadn’t heard of, yet shall still go unnamed) about advertising rates, and rather more damaging to the blogger, how much it would cost for the blogger to write a post about the company. That’s a practice that is frowned upon by a lot of the blogging community, especially is it isn’t disclosed, and it was the blogger who suggested it.
Oh, and the advertising prices were 20x what I charge per month, for roughly the same visitor stats, the tee company didn’t go for it, which I’m happy about because whilst I know that I undercharge for image ads, that’s just crazy!
