Bonefest notes

August 21st, 2006  |  by Bone  |  published in Uncategorised

I was walking up to the kitchen when I heard my Callum talking to my brother…

Callum: Y’know, my favourite thing to eat in the whole world has to be water melon.

Needless to say, he was rather drunk.

Bonefest: the Late edition

August 21st, 2006  |  by Bone  |  published in Uncategorised

So last post I siad I was gonna go to bed straight after I did the post? Well, it didn’t quite work that way. On my final tour of the house, making sure the bathrooms were clear, when I looked into the last bathroom I found a rather large pile/puddle of puke on the floor….

Now I’m not the kind of person to go near puke, but at 5:15 in the morning I wasn’t going to wake anyone up to look after their own mess, so I put on the rubber gloves and got the disinfectant and got to work. I then figured that I may as well just keep going so I went outside and took down the tarpaulin from on top of the cover, emptied some bins, sweeped the patio, moved the braizer, enjoyed the sunrise (everything went pink, it was amazing), emptied and cleaned one of the fridges, tidied up some more.

I finally went to bed at 6:30, but I couldn’t really sleep because it was so bright by then, and I was back up by 9:30 to start doing the bacon for breakfast, and to get back to cleaning for my parents coming home. Tigg stuck around until mid-afternoon to help clear up, and we had the place sorted pretty quickly, after which point I just lay on the couch drifting in and out of sleepy-town.

Well, everyone’s gone to bed, and I’ve run out of things that I can clean up without waking up Tigg and Green, who are both sleeping on couches in the living room (although I would probably give mopping the floor a go if I could find a bucket somewhere!).

The funny thing is that I’m not actually that tired at the moment, but I know that tomorrow I’ll be completely dead, and with the clean-up operation that needs to be completed before my parents and grandparents arrive tomorrow I can’t see myself being much fun on Monday.

I remember seeing 2 cider spills and a crushed cupcake in the manly room, I wonder if anyone’s sleeping in there?

Cleanliness Bone, out.

Acoustic set lasted for bloody ages, and included some rousing Oasis covers.

There was also some dang-loud sing-a-longs of the Pogues.

The fire is still raging, Matt has finished all the vodka, and for some reason has lost his vest….

We also managed to chase a robin out of the workshop, for some reason Tigg had a spade…

Strangely, people to seem to be eating more now than we were cooking it fresh.

things are winding down now, Caty, Greggy James and Hannah just left.

Swainy is totally passed out in one of the guest rooms.

I found Marques and Thwaitesy passed out in the manly room looking at a porn site called oldmantales.com, what the hell?

Apparently someone pissed on one of the bathroom floors, I am told it has been cleaned, kind of.

We’re out of spirits.

tigg is trying to complete some kind of triangle problem, he is becoming confused.

So, the party is well underway after over a kmonth pf planning, and even though the weather isn’t what I would have hoped for people seem to still be having a crazy good time.

The damage report so far the damage report is ‘just’ a broken fence, and a few knocked over cans. Swainy seems to have fallen asleep after just two hours of solid drinking.

There’s lots and lots of food left

Rob is currently providing an acoustic set out on the patio, he has gained a small crowd.

The fire is still roaring

Amy: i love u marques

Marques: I love liqour, and I can;t wait to get back to LA where the women love coke and have plastic boobs.

Tyson: give me a shout out, you know I love it!

Thwaites: Do you like my willy? (you don’t want to know)

See you at 2.

Bonefest: Rain, Rain, Rain

August 18th, 2006  |  by Bone  |  published in Uncategorised

I’d been hoping for the past month that it wouldn’t rain this weekend, and now I’m sat here staring out the window at a rather wet Langdale valley, really, really hoping that it will magically be sunny tomorrow, but either way the party will still be going ahead. If it is pouring down things are just going to have to start getting crowded in the house…

Here comes the boom

Had a great time with Tigg today firing off water rockets in the back garden. Our rig wasn’t too successful, but we ended up resorting to just holding the bottle on the end of the compressed air line (we don’t do things by halves) until the seals on the bottle caps exploded and the bottle went hurtling into the sky.

Dangerous? Yes. Fun? Hells yeah.

I’ll try and get some vids of it up tomorrow if I’m not too busy with Bonefest preparation (I haven’t even picked up the BBQ yet).

Burn baby burn, blogging inferno

August 16th, 2006  |  by Bone  |  published in Technology

I was reading Sky News’ text service (via the red button) and there was a story about potential hazards regarding about 4 million Dell laptop batteries, and that there was a recall on all those batteries, because they could set fire of even explode.

I got a Dell at Christmas, so I guessed that I’d be effected, but the story on Sky didn’t actually tell you how you can find out if you are effected by the recall, which seems a bit stupid, because surely that would be one of the reasons that people even looked at that news item?

Luckily the BBC news feed that I have running through the google personalised homepage had the story as well, and actually told you what to do about it. Go to a special site just for the problem (here) and follow the instructions. Simple. Would it really have been too hard for Sky News to tell me that?

So I went onto the site, which was very, very slow, but admittedly it was very simple, and they are going to send me a new battery without me having to return my current one (which is now out of the laptop, just in case) and without any fees to myself. Delivery is meant to take 20 days, but if I had a different model it might have been a 75 day wait for delivery, can you imagine buying a laptop and having to use it on AC power for more than 2 months?

Looks like I won’t be doing any blog posts from in bed in the near future…

But it took so long to make!

It would seem that in creating the new picture-licious header I have committed one of the cardinal sins of blog uglification.

According to some dude called Christian Montoya, adding your picture to your blog (and putting it on every page) is the number one way that I can make the blog ugly.

And I thought it looked good…

Bonefest: the post deluge begins

August 15th, 2006  |  by Bone  |  published in Uncategorised

Just a couple of quick notes for anyone checking in on the blog that is coming to the party this weekend:

There will be room in the house for about 14/15/16 people, but since I’ve invited more than that, it’s entirely possible that you’ll need to camp, so it would be great if you could bring a tent since I can’t guarantee you a bed/couch (oh, and sleeping bags would be a good idea).

There isn’t any need for you to bring food (the BBQ will be groaning under the weight of meat).

Bring booze, bring lots of booze.

The field in front of the house has been cut-and-bailed, so if anyone wants to bring a footie or frisbee or something like that then that’d be pretty cool for a bit of a play about.

And I’m looking at getting the shindig underway at about 6:30, but I’m not entirely sure when the bands will be playing, probably around 9 or 10 o’clock.
