Adventures in YouTube: Cowboy

May 19th, 2006  |  by Bone  |  published in Uncategorised

After surfing around YouTube for a while last night, I thought I’d give its uploading system a try, so I found a funny-in-its-mundanity clip of me bouncing a Cowboy Hat on my head. Remember, you will never get back the 17 seconds you spent watching this clip.

How peculiar: part two

May 19th, 2006  |  by Bone  |  published in Uncategorised

I was playing around with my camera (9 months and I’m still learning about the mighty A200) and noticed that the battery warning had gone red, so I started searching for the charger. I looked in my various bags of wires and plastic (note to self: work out what the wires are for) and couldn’t see it. I got frustrated and went back to the internet, I even checked eBay for a replacement (this Konica Minolta fanboy knows the product codes).

Then Richard walks in my room, and I say “I can’t find the…”, stopping myself mid-sentence, as I realised that by looking at Richard I was also staring directly at the charger, which I had put in my dissertation book box (along with a few hide your arms related letters and stickers, I love freebies). It was one of those weird moments when you turn into Earl and start believing in things that probably don’t exist (the ‘k’ word).

Still, it’s good to be able to charge up again, that was a real hairy 5 minutes.

How peculiar

Its 1:30 in the morning and there people outside my window playing football on the street, and they don’t even seem that drunk… (and the neighbours are playing some seriously shockingly bad tunes, no one needs to hear “wake me up before you go-go” except in the context of a student bar crawl)

Also, it would seem that my journalistic exploits are appreciated in New York, well, at least one blogger liked one of my questions…

YouTube Adventures get Tango’d

Why haven’t I seen this Sony Bravia colour like no other parody before? You woulda thought that it would be all over TV screens in the UK but I;ve never seen it.

Bone’s Bands O’ The Day

May 16th, 2006  |  by Bone  |  published in , Interesting Links

What with all this revision I’ve been doing the 15 days of music that I have loaded onto iTunes just doesn’t seem to satisfy me, so I’ve been hunting around the charts at purevolume.com for some fresh listening. I’ve got a couple of picks for you (though to be honest I’m only posting them to remind me to listen to them again).

1. We Are The Fury - I can’t really sum them up, though they do sound fairly similar to The Academy Is…/Panic! At The Disco & the vocal stylings of Gerard (sp?) Way of My Chemical Romance, guitar is slightly reminiscent of Billy Talent. Fave track=Better off this way

2. PlayRadioPlay! - Electronica beats being danced on by slightly synthed vocals, good revision music, its there and I can listen to it for ages without getting bored. Reminds me slightly of Imogen Heap’s ‘Hide and Seek’ except with beats, obviously.

Oh yeah, cool interview coming up on Hide Your Arms later tonight with Rafael from hand-drawn design tee company ‘The Handsome Sausage‘. *Here it is*

I love the internet: part II

May 16th, 2006  |  by Bone  |  published in Interesting Links

So I was looking through my RSS feeds as I do every morning lunchtime when I wake up and I noticed that someone had written a profile about Hide Your Arms, and there’s even a picture of me in my bathroom wearing the sweet tee that Brooklyn Industries sent me! If you were wondering why I take the photos in the bathroom, its the only mirror in the house that is long enough to get the whole tee visible.

Anyway, lets get back on track. The guy that wrote the profile is from a San-Francisco based culture blog called Jungle-Life. What compelled Shimone to write the post about a guy from England? Because I’m nice, of course!

Go check it out, and I love the idea of encouraging people to send me schwag, I’m a huge fan of freebies, as old-skool readers of the blog are well aware.

I love the internet and Myspace

Officer Hodge

You know whats so awesome about the internet, and the fact that I spend far too much of my day near it?

You can find your friends on Myspace and make it clear that you are friends (add me! add me! add me!) without actually having to talk to them.

Ahhh, the internet, making it easier to not leave the house.

P.S. Hodge, mate, it’s just sad having the ubiquitous Tom Anderson as your only friend…

Just A Day

May 15th, 2006  |  by Claire  |  published in Uncategorised

Ok, so I’ve given it a whole day for people to stare at BONE IN A TUX, i feel it’s time to move on…

As per usual, I have come to the end of today & I feel I’ve wasted it.  I went all the way to the sport centre to go swimming & I’d forgotten my swimming costume.  And that’s been about the highlight.  I hate to admit it, but having no homework to do at the moment is really boring me.  I don’t feel like I’m being pushed here at all cos it’s so lax about doing work outside of classes.  I really don’t know how Germans put up with this for 7 years!  I’d go crazy.  Not working my brain!  That or brain damaged from being sat in front of my computer for pretty much the entire day.  It’s also been a day of missing people back home.  I guess with all this time to think.

Hang on, all’s not lost, I bought sprakly shoes!

And it’s Feeder tomorrow.  I’m heading off to bed any minute I swear cos dude, I aint getting a minute’s sleep tomorrow night, we’re partying our way into the early morning, (realistically, passing out at Munich station & trying to sleep in the waiting room with the tramps) & getting the first train to Regensburg at 5am.

I am too old for this!

00Bone goes to the Ball

May 14th, 2006  |  by Bone  |  published in Uncategorised

That title is a shout-out to the predictability of titles involving a tuxedo, and because its predictable, it also references my night ending with a migraine, because I wouldn’t want to have too much fun, would I?

PICT2128

The University of Leicester History & Politics Societies held a joint ball last night at the Grand Hotel in Leicester city centre. As you can tell you can tell from the picture above I had put the effort in, prompting Hannah to say “you look different…. you look good!”, gee, thanks, guess I look like a bag of hammers at all other times then…

It’s a long post, so it’s got a jump.
