I’m a SUCKER for GUYS in EYELINER!

I’ve become a bit of a t-shirt addict. Which is always good considering I write for the best t-shirt company’s blog in the world (BGBC Duh!)… but never good for the purse! The funny thing is, this t-shirt came all the way from the US of A (Hot-topic) in the biggest parcel I have received. Even my Hausmeister was like, what the hell? In German of course…

Feeling happier right now, I’ve settled into life in Germany now. Things have happened which have provoked a feeling of inner-peace & it’s snowing & all Christmassy here in Regensburg!

It’s nearly Christmas! So excited!

Crack on with the revision…

Perez Hilton is a thief!!!

PerezHilton.com — Hollywood’s Most-Hated Web Site

Oh Perez, you may be able to fool your legions of avid readers, but I know where you must spend some of your time, here, at bigguybigcity.com

It’s the only explanation for why he’s found a picture which makes exactly the same comparison as mine does, we even used the same Saddam Hussein picture. And our Mel shots come from the same time. I just managed to break that non-story 25 days days earlier.

Oh, Mr. Hilton, you better hadn’t start bastardizing emo song titles for your posts… that would just be too much.

…… or more than one person noticed that Mel Gibson bears a passing resemblance to Saddam Hussein in a couple of pictures, as I’m sure a lot of guys with beards do.

Langdale hills and rural thrills

What a week, I’ve been busy doing nothing. Since I had a lecture cancelled I went home to Langdale on Wednesday (after rocking hard in the Fan Club on Tuesday night) and just kind of lay around being lazy, which I could have quite easily done in Leicester but then I wouldn’t have been fed venison and wood pigeon.

One thing I notice about home is that it actually gets dark, living in a city it never actually gets pitch black, especially as my room looks out on the street and our curtains are about as thick as economy toilet roll (=thin). I used to be a bit afraid of the dark, but now I find it quite comforting when I’m at home.

I ordered a new laptop, which will hopefully arrive by Christmas (sorry, non-denominational celebration day) but it might not, so my current Sony will need to last for a few months and a few essays.

I had a good couple of nights out with the guys, they haven’t changed a bit, as Dr.Ross Gellar once said “no one likes change” but then again he was talking about infidelity, and I’m talking about people who make “your mum” jokes.

I saw Thwaitesy, which is always a pleasure, as he always insists on telling me how much of a great friend I am, I do think the stubbly kiss was a bit much though (he was drunk btw).

Going to see Franz Ferdinand tomorrow in Nottingham with Richardo, Robin and Pete, should be a good’n.

*Bunch of new photos from the previous week on my Flickr page so check them out, including a bit of camwhoring of my hair*

Bullet in a Bible

Bullet in a Bible

Ok, so I know I’m not from America, but I got invited to a Thanksgiving party today at the Uni, but I’m soooo tired & feeling worse for wear that I can’t go! I’m very sad. Though I’m guessing it has something to do with not going to bed before 5am for the past few nights. Tuesday night we went Pirate caving (Yaar!), Wednesday was one hell of a Wong with some awesome Cider drinking prior to it (inspired by the podcast… “SIT DOWN YOU SCRUMPY!”) Then Thursday night was the Thomaheim (my college here in Regensburg) Fest. It was basically a houseparty for 700 people! I had so much fun & had to be physically withstrained during Basket Case…

The reason for this is the fact I’ve become slightly addicted to my new DVD. As avid BGBC fans will remember, I had tickets to see Green Day at their sell-out dates at the Milton Keynes Bowl in June. Now, for unforseen circumstances (Bah!) I was asleep in York instead of at “the greatest show of Punk-Rock ever” (The bitterness lives on). However, I just received a copy of the DVD ‘Bullet in a Bible’ which is a film of the dates, so I still get to see Billie Joe Armstrong masturbate in front of 65,000 people. Joke I do not! If that’s not an excuse to watch it I don’t know what is! Nah, seriously, it’s an awesome DVD and you should definitely buy it!

Prague next week! Woooooo!

The Academy Is… Amazing

we’ve got one chance…

So Richard awoke me from my lie-in (8:20 alarm was just a magnificent illusion)with the joyous news that not one but four packages had arrived for me.

A couple of books for my dissertation (thankyou Amazon Marketplace for the ma-hoosive discount on RRP) and my semi-long awaited CDs from America. Self Against CIty’s EP ‘take it how you want it’ which is alright, but I haven’t given it a decent listen yet. And lastly, The Academy Is…’s album called ‘Almost There’ which is foot-tappingly awesome. I remember reading about them a while back on Punktastic and remembering that I should give them a listen but put it off until I noticed they were playing at the Charlotte here in merry-old Leicester.

Persauding Rory of their greatness is proving to be quite a struggle, but that’s just ‘cos he likes to annoy me, a lot. I forced him out of my room with the CD in hand.

Head over to purevolume.com/theacademyis for a couple of (legal) downloads.

So cold, so cold…

Ok, so it isn’t *that* cold, but it certainly was cold enough to make me regret not wearing a jacket to uni today.

I got a new mobile/cellphone (please the U.S. visitors) today, a Sony Ericsson k600i, it’s pretty much the same as my old one (the K700i) but it’s 3G and has a better camera. And I’ve learnt how to use it to control the computer, which is cool since I really don’t want to have to get out of bed to change which show I’m watching.

Richard got a new phone today as well, it was clearly a big phone day at BGBC HQ.

I only have/had one lecture this week, and that was today, so my 6 day weekend starts now, off to the Lake District on Wednesday, with my lovely new camera-bag (bye-bye birthday money) in tow.

Thanks for all the comments on the podcast, it’s been more successful than I’d anticipated, we even have some subscribers! I guess the pressure’s on for the next one, suggestions are more than welcome.

I feel I should make up for it for writing something interesting. Though not sure I can live up to expectations unfortunately. I’ve had a good few days actually. On Tuesday night (a week ago?! I’ve not posted for a week?!) we went to a party at Wohnheim, Gesslerheim. It was quite cool actually & to live up to standard I was drunk before we even went out. But I’m taking it slowly at the moment, I have to regain some dignity after the Susie Wong toilet/Taxi ride home incidents.

Bigguybigcity.com Presents: The Great Cider Test

bigguybigcity.com wants you!

Originally uploaded by bigguybigcity.

Bigguybigcity.com doesn’t shy away from the tough issues, we tackle them head on. That’s why this podcast is all about that age-old student question, which is the best high-strength cider? We (Andy, Richard & special guest Rob Finn) conducted in-depth testing on a wide variety of cheap booze, as I’m sure you’ll be able to tell towards the end of the podcast!

We haven’t been accepted to iTunes yet (and I made a few errors on the tagging, so we may well need re-submission) but there are plenty of other ways of hearing our opinions on the various high-strength ciders that are available from Morrisons.

There’s a direct link to the file, hosted by podomatic:

download now! (save link/target as, or stream through browser)

Or you can play it through Odeo
My Odeo Channel

And for those of you that want it, here’s the RSS feed.

Enjoy!

It’s actually shorter than I first imagined, but it is still weighty hovering over the 21 minute mark. Long? Yes, but sometimes scientific analysisisis need time.

I’ve uploaded it to ourmedia.org and it should become available to the general punlic sometime tomorrow (it takes time on ourmedia for some reason).

I’ve heard that there’s bootleg copies going on eBay for a gajillion dollars, but don’t believe the hype, those people are just trying to cash in on the good name of bigguybigcity.com, save your money, wait till tomorrow, and spend your cash on our cider’s of choice.

Have a Nice Day!

Originally uploaded by Claire214.

So, what could brighten up the coldest day in Regensburg so far?!

Well, the announcement of a certain band, supporting another certain band in a certain place… To those who don’t have the gift of mind-reading, that would be Stereophonics supporting Oasis in Vienna, Austria next February.

I’ve never been happier. Well apart from 16th September when I saw ‘Phonics for the first time. Ever. I need to scream!

*Edit* I’ve written this post again, as:
a) I wanted to try out the whole picture thing
b) I wanted to be able to look at Kelly Jones all the time!

We’re going to Vienna! Woooooooo!
