Be very quiet…

Because I’m stealing the internet. Sorry neighbour, I swear I won’t waste your bandwidth, and you’ll probably try and whore my connection when it gets installed at the end of the week anyway. < -- the George Bush school of retribution.

It's been another busy old week. I've had my first lectures, met a load of nice new people (including lots of single-serving friends in Leamington Spa last night at Sophie's birthday party). My modules seem pretty interesting, especially the one titled Communism in Eastern Europe.

I've been spending too much as usual. Two more tees from Threadless (with money off from my street team points) and my Creative Communism tee from Giant Robot Printing should be arriving any day now.

I’ve also taken the decision to stop stealing my brothers memory card and buy my own, 512mb of compact flashness is on its way as I type (hopefully with my 5% of affiliate discount finding its way into my Amazon account).

I had a bit of a shopping spree too, new jeans and trousers, as well as an awesome shirt (I had to get a shirt because I got the cufflinks for my birthday, but didn’t own a shirt that needed them).

My belly has turned from being big to big & wobbly, so I think it’s time to turn back to spirits from the more economical beer and cider.

Went on a Politics social on wednesday, and frankly it wasn’t great, there was such a lack of 3rd years, but I did enjoy going to Red Leicester at the end since all my housemates were out there even though I somehow managed to miss Matt all night.

I’ve learnt a few more things about my birthday, apparently I tried to slip the tongue in on many of my much loved friends, but I can only assume that I’ve managed to get away with it…

Pictures (of me looking like a tool in my head dress)!!!

The Drought Finally Is Over!

Posted by Claire at October 15th, 2005

At last! I’ve remembered how to Log in & my password! It’s good days for all!

But, I’ll make it quick, Germany rocks… end of. I promise I’ll post tomorrow. My excuse for such a short (but I must say sweet) post on this victorious occasion… I’ve been up since 4am this morning & only just got back after trailing around Bavaria all day. I am, as they would say, fucked. Oops I swore.

Also, bis morgen!

P.S. Hey Richard, I met a friend of your’s today, he’s from Leicester Uni, studying History but is in Regensburg with me this year. Called Paul. Don’t know his last name. Family from Poland, so I’d expect it to be something Polish. But he’s knows you! And ‘Andy’! And bigguybigcity!

(Sorry for breaking rule number one Bone…)

All I want is a pipe and some slippers

Because I’m old now, get it?

Bone’s Big Birthday Bonanza was one hell of a weekend. It’ll all become clear when I get the pictures of Tigg, but needless to say I wore an American Indian (sorry, native American) head-dress for the ENTIRE evening. It was an 11 hour drinking session, beginning with the football and ending with the closing of the union. In the region of 40 units of alcohol was consumed, none of which came back up!

It was great that some of my friends from home came to visit, they even brought my present on the train, a (beer) fridge! So thanks again to Hodge, Soph, Green, Tigg and Tyson for making the trip.

Woke up with a horrednous hangover on Sunday morning, tried to clean up the mess, couldn’t, went back to bed and lay around being a lump. The haze eventually cleared and me managed to clear the house up in time for my families arrival. We then had an excellent meal at ‘Le Bistrot Pierre’ in town then went to the Loaded Dog for some very un-welome drinks and to catch the end of the History Society’s first social of the year. After putting in some face time there we headed back.

My birthday presents were pretty much sponsored by Hugo Boss, a pair of cufflinks from my grandparents (argh! forgot to call them), a leather belt from my brother, and a beautiful watch from my parents (which mysteriously was exactly the style I had requested just the day before). Oh, and some light sticks that I’d seen in a shop and wanted for no reason in particular. Oh, and Soph got me a trivia game. And there was cards a plenty and some money.

Good times, good times indeed.

For tonight Sir, you become a man

Posted by Bone at October 7th, 2005

Whoop whoop! Last post before I turn 21 on Sunday. Been a hell of a week, drinking, dancing, sleeping (a lot), cooking some excellent food, meeting a few new people (but almost always preferring the old faces).

I do find myself in a bit of a predicament though, I want to achieve a 1st class degree, but I also want to go out and really experience the whole student ‘thing’. The essence of studentness that you can’t really explain. Of course, the third year isn’t really the time to party and stop caring about work, but I’m not the kind of guy that can balance work and enjoyment without my work (and my body) suffering. I know that I can achieve a 1st, not only is it mathematically possible, but I know that with enough effort I can do it, though it is a mighty high order. But as I said to Rory at about 3:30A.M on tuesday night/wednesday morning “I want to prove to myself that I can do it, because I know I can get a 2:1, but a 1st is something special.” Though I was probably slurring a bit…

What’s one year of late nights and early mornings for a lifetime of knowing you can achieve if you put your mind to it?

Also, friends are coming down for this weekends Birthday festivities, I’m going to assume that the next update will have pictures of me looking pretty disgraceful…. Richard has bought me an Indian head dress for the occasion (note to Richard, I would have preferred a cigar like last year).

Lastly, after 40 days of waiting Bulldog have finally sent through an e-mail saying that we’ll have our new phone line and broadband service on the 21st of October. I probably won’t ne there though cos I promised to travel back for Mr Green’s birthday, and as loyal followers will know, I don’t break promises.

Without the internet I will surely die…

Posted by Bone at October 3rd, 2005

So Bulldog haven’t gotten around to doing… anything… at all yet, so we don’t have internet or telephone. Thus I can’t post from home meaning I haveto wander into uni, and with all those pesky freshers around it’s not the funnest of experiences.

Long stories short, went out, got drunk, stayed in, got drunk, roasted some pork, roasted a chicken, made my room look nice.

I bought a whiteboard so I could be productive and write a to-do list, but the pen doesn’t work, so I can’t write on it, which I need to do to remind myself to buy the pen in the first place!

Off to register for NUC card again. Byebye!

Achtung Regensburg!

Posted by Claire at October 2nd, 2005

So, it’s finally here. My last post in England for a while! It’s really scary to think that in less then 24 hours I will be boarding the plane at Manchester Airport… next stop Munich! I’ve just finished all my packing, which involved some humouress attempts to weigh the suitcases on our regular ‘person’ scales! I don’t move into halls until Tuesday because of the Oktober Fest taking place throughout Bavaria at the time and don’t actually start lectures until 17th October. Score!

Sorry my updates have been spasmodic over the summer. I’ve been used to updating everyday in the summer so it’s been a bit weird writing monster posts every few weeks then realising once my specified internet time per week (can you tell i’m bitter?!) that I’ve missed out half that I wanted to say! I’ve had a brilliant summer though, despite being busy at work, it has been immense. Went out in Kendal on Friday night with my friends from work - message to you all, avoid Passions… it’s a little bit rubbish. More worryingly was my new found liking for tequila. Me thinks I’ve found my new beer. And we all know how well I can stomach that (Not)! I’ve heard the beer is 4 times stronger in Germany. I don’t expect to have much of a fully functioning liver when I return!

So it’s auf wiedersehen for now! I’m preeettty sure I have internet in mein Zimmer next year so I’ll be in touch really soon! I think I’m gonna cry!
