I’m back from Austria, I’m not gonna write everything in a big essay format cos it would just take too long, so you’ll have to make do with bullet points.
The flight in to Innsbruck was awesome, you actually fly through a valley between mountains, which was amazing as you can imagine.
We were in a hotel called Haus Gurgl, it was immaculately clean and as warm as is needed when you’re surrounded by snow.
Dinner was had at a hotel called the Edelweiss & Gurgl which was in the centre of the village (Obergugrl) and that was some of the best hotel food I’ve ever had, 4, 5, or 6 courses (none of which were coffee like in England) per night, of really high quality cooking and whilst choice was limited to a couple of options for a couple of courses per night there was always something I wanted.
It turns out I’m not really fit enough to snowbaord, but I tried anyway.
I was put into a ski school group with 7 other people the oldest of which was 13 and the only other English person was Roddy who was 10.
I actually got quite good at frontside, so I had a fair bit of fun going down the slopes backwards.
The snow was excellent, which was surprising considering how late we were in the season.
I had to take a couple of days off cos I hurt my back, so I was on painkillers all week. And I’m covered in bruises, legs, knees, arms, wrists, fingers.
I’m really, really burnt, I have a lines around the top of my head where there was a gap between my gogles and my hat. And my nose could be used as a landing beacon for airplanes it’s so red.
Yesterday at the airport we were going through the bag scanner and metal detector and my bag got pulled off and put onto a table and this big Austrian guy asked me to open my bag and take out a small bottle, it was my Stroh 80 (the Spirit of Austria) and he told me that you aren’t allowed to take any spirit out on the plane that is over 60%, and then he put it in a cupboard. I never even got to taste any of it. Luckily it was only a 100ml bottle so I only lost out on 5 euros but that wasn’t the point, I didn’t understand why I couldn’t have it, and I was amazed that they noticed the bottle, they must get lots of people buying it cos I’ve never seen an 80% abv spirit on sale in Britain.
But never fear boys, Uncle Bone still has a present for you, Jagermeister!!!!
The back of my calf has turned purple/black because I got it caught underneath a chair lift that I was getting on, that hurt a lot.
I’ve made a little (1 minute 47 seconds) film of me learning, its a bit limited cos Neil was the only one who’d be able to film me, and the LE version of Adobe premier on my laptop doesn’t seem to like very many file formats for video, and doesn’t accept MP3’s for music. I’ll probably use it in the next B-Movie we’ll need everything we can get if we’re gonna reach hodge’s target of and hour long film.
I’ll try and update tomorrow, if I haven’t done anything today I’ll just complain about tourists making driving to Windermere a 45 minute one way trip.
I’ve noticed my typing hasn’t been too good today, so there may well be a few mistakes.
