Big news, I can confirm that I’ve had a Mexican visitor, hurray.
I’ve just realised that I’ll be able to check if Jack is checking up on my progress, cos now that he’s gonna spend winter in Chamonix I’ll be able to see how many French hits I get, so now I can publically wish him good luck.
Non-me news, can i just draw anyones attention to the Drive-Thru Invasion Tour thats coming to the UK in January, the dates are as follows
11 Plymouth Club
12 Bristol Acadamy
13 Birmingham Acadamy2 (Academy 1 on hold)
14 Manchester Acadamy2
15 Glasgow Garage
17 Newcastle Newcastle Uni
18 Sheffield Leadmill
19 Oxford Zodiac
20 Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms
21 London Astoria
The bands that are playing are Allister, Homegrown, The Early November (take note Ro!!) and Hidden in Plain view, you may also notice that none of those dates are anywhere near Leicester, so it looks like I’m either going to Greenys (at the Leadmill) or my brothers (at the Astoria), should be awesome.
Ok, had a curious weekend, there was 7 or 8 of us in the house when there is usually 18. So I managed to get a bit of reading done and write an essay and a presentation, the presentation was good btw, I did it this morning with a girl called Hannah, not the one I live with, and I was happy, I was using my hands, quoting dates, even a joke, that no one laughed at but still, it shows that I’m more comfortable with speaking in a large group cos at school I wasn’t a big fan of all this speech stuff.
Anyway, friday night was fairly quiet, though I did drink 2 pints of Southern Comfort and Lemonade, quite quickly, so I was a bit drunk that night but it ws still quiet, so a few of us just hung out, it was nice. Then on Saturday I was gonan go to see the Matrix with Richard but we didn’t bother, so instead me and Sophie (girl that lives literally above me, but spends an increasingly large amount of time in my room cos I have a TV), and later Richard, made a drinking game out of Junior Eurovision, because otherwise it would have been 2 hours of horrible horrible singing, it goes like so….
if the cameraman makes a mistake, you drink
if Tara Palmer Tompkinson (see the celeb hit-grab there) made a commentary mistake, you drink
if the underage performer makes a blatantly sexual dance move, such as some kind of thrust, you drink
if you are attracted to a performer, you drink LETS BE CLEAR THIS ONE WAS A JOKE
if a performer sings out of tune, you drink
if you notice anything, you drink
Needless to say, the ‘artists’ were terrible, so we ended up rather drunk, and when we ran out of vodka, we went to the JCR and I ended up spending a couple of days budget in a couple of hours. So I ended up still being a wake at 4 and then I got up at 9 to watch the rugby, which was rather a hard thing to do but atleast I could watch it whilst still in bed, and Sophie joined me (sidenote: her Dad was called up to try out for England but he didn’t go because he thought he was too old) so well done to our boys/Johnny Wilkinson for beating the French, anything anti-French should appeal to my French readership, i.e. Sara, who is from New York, not Australia.
It was cool when everyone came back on Sunday the house seemed more alive and I got a lot more visitors whilst I was working on my essay.
Long live the Kent House Union,
Bone
I’ve just realised that my ‘quiet’ weekend wasn’t all that quiet cos I was drunk for quite a lot of it, oh and when you drink, drink responsibly.
One last thing, seriosuly, in the JCR on Saturday I was talking to the barman and he was at the same HomeGrown and Midtown gigs as me and Greeny were (he noticed my Early November tee) so he played the Midtown and Rufio CDs so for the first night in like 8/9 weeks a bar played only the music that I like, v.cool.
