Basically this is an unchanged copy of the e-mail I sent to a few people in my address book on Sunday, I haven’t been able to get near the net for a while, but not much has happened in the past 3 days.

Hey guys,

I figured it would be a lot easier to just type one big e-mail and send it to all of you, rather than lots of smaller ones.

I’ve had a pretty big first week, with a whole lot of crap happening. I’m in a place called Kent House, there’s 5 other lads on the ground floor and then 12 girls upstairs, it actually feels more like a house than I thought it would, because we all hang out in the hall and watch TV and DVD’s together, so we all get on well, whereas in the other houses there doesn’t seem to be much community spirit.

Food is alright in the Halls, but not a scratch on mums, but I can always cook noodles if I’m hungry, and Endsleigh gave me 2 pot noodles when I got insurance with them. I’m sure none of you are interested in me registering for my classes, so I’ll skip that and move on. Went on a pub crawl on Monday, but it wasn’t much of a crawl, we only went in 6 places.

Wednesday was probably the worst day I’ve had this week, I went out in the morning, cos I had some uni stuff to do, and when I got back I realised that the 24 cans of Stella I’d bought weren’t in the kitchen, so I asked the boys if one of them had put it in their room for safe-keeping, cos we’d said that would be a good idea, but they hadn’t, so obviously it had been nicked, which could easily happen, because there’s builders coming in and out all the time, leaving the door open.

Then later that night, we came back form the JCR and were sat in the hall watching TV, there was about 8 of us, and we heard someone hitting Tom’s (has room next to mine) window, so he ran outside and saw someone running off into a car and then they sped off, we thought nothing of it and just figured it was just some guys having a laugh. So we finished watching TV about 1 and decided tourn in for the night, so I picked up my TV and walked into my room, it felt peculiarly cold, then I looked at my windows, one of them was smashed in, which frankly scared the shit out of me, cos back home in Langdale I’m pretty sure it has the lowest, or at least one of the lowest, crime rates in the entire country, and then I come to Leicester and I’m the subject of 2 crimes in one day. I went through to Richards room and told him what happened, so we got the sub-warden, but she couldn’t do anything really except for help clean up the glass. So I had to sleep in my room, with a frying pan at the side of the bed (most lethal thing I could find). Every time a car went past or I heard people speaking, I totally thought that they were coming back to get my stuff, but I did get to sleep eventually, only to be awoken by the Duty manager who wanted to see the damage, but she actually asked me if I did it myself, so I pointed out that the glass was on the inside of the room, and that my room was cold enough without my smashing a window. At this point I was informed that I’d be paying for the window, even though the police had come to see the damage, so there was no way that they thought it was me.

Day after that the fire alarm went off at about 12, and we were told that if it went off we were to call the fire brigade, so Teb (girl upstairs) did, and 2 fire engines turned up, and sinced there wasn’t actually a fire we got told off, for following instructions, whilst I do like it here, sometimes the management pisses me off.

Then on Friday I saw Capdown and Douglas at the Leuicester Charlotte, which is this cool little (390 capacity) venue near the city centre. The bands were awesome, but the place was filled with mini-Avrils, and some fool in front of me with a huge backpack, and he was always skanking, so his bag kept hitting me, so I pushed him, and he stopped being quite so energetic.

Got up late on Saturday, went into Town, bought some skate shoes (cos my feet were so sore after this week) and the new Thursday album, which is awesome. Went to a club night at the Union called Damned Nation, there was meant to be a punk, hardcore, and emo room, but we had to request like every song, and it was so loud that you couldn’t even hear the music, and there was like 15-20 people there, and we were 8 of them, so me and Richard left and got a takeaway.

So that was my first week as a uni student, it was rather long, but its Sunday afternoon, and I’ve got nothing to do, except maybe some washing, but everyone will be doing it today, so I don’t think I’ll bother till tomorrow morning, cos I’ve only got one lecture and that’s not till 4:30.

Till I’m bored again,
Bone
